Chargebacks in travel are up 50% compared to 2019.
Recently the travel industry has seen a huge spike in chargebacks, mainly because travelers have simply become more aware of chargebacks after the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many travel companies struggle with handling the chargeback process efficiently which can mean that disutes are often left in favour of the cardholder, often without objection.
On December 01, 2022 we hosted a coffee chat with Amadeus and Chargebacks 911 to discuss the current state of chargebacks and management tips to reduce instances of fraud and costs associated with chargebacks.
